Why we need your help?

Fotolia 44037348 SYouth  Suicide Prevention Ireland urgently need funds to continue to fund our dedicated Schools Outreach Team who provide our "Four Steps to Help" Suicide Awareness and Prevention talks for schools and interested organisations in 2015.  As you can imagine providing suicide awareness and prevention information directly to young people in a safe and supportive environment are critical to helping to reduce that frighteningly high rates of youth suicide in Ireland.

With your help we can increase the number of talks that we are able to provide and this vital service to more schools, colleges and youth organisations.

Our Four Steps to Help Programme has been specifically developed by YSPI and approved by our Advisory Board as age appropriate for ages 16+ which allows us to provide a frontline service to young people.  These talks are 100% funded by YSPI as part of our outreach work and there is no cost to the school or organisation to book and host a talk.

Why should you consider supporting us?

There has never been a more important time to support youth suicide prevention in Ireland as young people are being hit on all sides by the reality of Ireland in 2015 and suicide rates are rising again and, sadly, our most at risk group is young males..

Many families are now in financial trouble leading to tension between parents and siblings. Many young people can be faced with a very sudden decline in standard of living, or the discovery that their parents can't now afford to send them to university or college. They also face the terrible prospect that there may not be work at home for them for some years to come, and face the prospect of life on social welfare or emigration.

It can seem a bleak picture to young people but there is so much help and support available to them, both amongst their friends, family and peer group, and also in the wider community where many are working to prevent youth suicide on a daily basis.
